VentureBeat: Tim Draper doesn't think we're in a tech investment bubble yet

Tim Draper, the gregarious founder and managing director of venture capital firm Draper Fisher Jurvetson, says there isn't reason to fear a big bubble in the technology sector just yet.
Draper said so during a question and answer session after his speech in a windy tent yesterday at the Global Technology Symposium in Menlo Park, Calif. The potential for a bubble is on everyone's minds in Silicon Valley these days because a lot of people remember the froth around the dot-com days and the subsequent crash. And some fear that we are in the same boat with rising valuations for start-ups such as Groupon, Zynga, Facebook and Twitter.

Yahoo is "gearing up for a very big year" of acquisitions, said a senior director of corporate development at the Internet company.
Speaking on a panel at the Global Technology Symposium in Menlo Park on Friday, Yahoo's Steven Mitzenmacher said the company had gone through a couple of years where acquisitions weren't on the agenda.
"But we've come out now...guns blazing," he said, adding that executives around the company "want to do more."

Russia is building its own version of Silicon Valley near Moscow. The 6,000-acre innovation center's only global outpost was officially opened this week in Menlo Park.
The opening marked a major step in Russia's efforts to increase its presence in Silicon Valley, as the nation seeks to diversify its economy and invest in emerging technologies.
Construction of the Skolkovo Innovation Center is poised to begin near Moscow by the end of this year.
